Emir of Qatar and Iraqi Prime Minister: Ensuring Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Iraqi Prime Minister, Ali al-Allaq, emphasized the necessity for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement the agreements reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and enhancing regional stability.

This came during an official meeting held at Lusail Palace in the Qatari capital, Doha.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed the Iraqi Prime Minister, expressing his wish for the fraternal relations between the two countries to continue to develop and flourish in various fields.

For his part, al-Allaq expressed his condolences and sympathies to the Emir of Qatar on the passing of the late His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, praying to God Almighty to have mercy on him and grant him a place in His vast Paradise.

According to QNA, the Turkish Foreign Minister conveyed his condolences to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the passing of the late Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, by God’s leave.

For his part, the Emir of Qatar expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Foreign Minister for his sincere feelings and condolences.

The close cooperative relations between the two countries were also reviewed, along with the latest regional and international developments, particularly recent developments in the region, especially the diplomatic efforts undertaken and joint coordination to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region.
