Al-Tatbiqi: A Guide to the Capabilities of Al-Sihhiya and Al-Tamrid

The recently issued guide, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Jarida, clarified that the aptitude test is a prerequisite for admission to the College of Nursing and all its specializations, as well as to several specializations within the College of Health Sciences, namely: Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Emergency, Oral and Dental Health, and Dental Clinic Technician. It specified that to register for the tests, applicants must be Kuwaiti nationals and hold a secondary school certificate from the Scientific Stream, with a minimum grade of 70% for recent certificates and 75% for older ones, according to approved standards. The test is administered only once per applicant.

The guide noted that the test consists of two parts: the first covers English language and includes 60 questions, with a passing score of 50%; the second covers Science and includes 40 questions distributed between Chemistry and Biology. Candidates are not permitted to take the Science test unless they have passed the English language test. The Science test is offered in both Arabic and English. Successful candidates receive medical examination and radiology forms, while applicants to the College of Nursing are required to undergo a personal interview as part of the admission requirements.

The guide included instructions and guidelines for administering the tests, emphasizing the necessity of arriving before the scheduled time, presenting the civil ID card, and prohibiting the entry of mobile phones, smart devices, or any communication tools. It also banned cheating or photographing test content, stressing that strict measures and penalties would be applied against violators to safeguard the integrity of the examinations.

It was further clarified that the equivalent admission score is calculated as follows: 75% from the secondary school GPA, 15% from the English language test score, and 10% from the Science test score. Final admission is contingent upon passing the tests, the medical examination, and, for applicants to the College of Nursing, the personal interview.

The guide outlined the scientific content of the tests. The English language test assesses reading, vocabulary, and grammar skills, while the Science test covers key topics in Chemistry and Biology from the twelfth-grade curriculum. It also includes sample questions to familiarize students with the nature of the test, the answering mechanism, and preparation strategies.
