Iran suspends its commitments under the memorandum of understanding with the United States

Iran announced on Saturday the suspension of all its commitments under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States, accusing Washington of violating its pledges and resorting to what it described as “aggressive acts,” signaling a further breakdown in the de-escalation process between the two countries amid escalating military tensions.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, stated that his country had been engaged in negotiations with the U.S. side when Washington carried out military actions that, in his view, constituted a direct violation of the commitments outlined in the MoU.

Gharibabadi added, in remarks reported by the Iranian Mehr News Agency, that the United States had “practically trampled on all its commitments and ceased implementing them,” clarifying that Tehran, in turn, had suspended all its obligations under the agreement known as the Islamabad MoU and was no longer implementing any of them.
