Trump Urges Congress to Pass 'Save America' Bill to Ensure Election Integrity

Trump said in a televised address to the nation that “addressing the election crisis requires Congress to pass the ‘Save America Act’ without delay, and I urge every American to contact members of the House and Senate and demand they pass this bill immediately.”

He added that the bill “requires all voters to present a photo ID and mandates proof of U.S. citizenship before being allowed to vote, and it bans mail-in voting except for patients, people with disabilities, military personnel, and travelers.”

Trump argued that “there is no reason to oppose these measures other than a desire to cheat, because Democratic policies and their candidates cannot win any other way.”

He stressed that his country “cannot be a great nation without free and fair elections, and every American deserves to know that their vote will be counted accurately.”

About two weeks earlier, Trump refused to sign a housing support bill that enjoyed overwhelming bipartisan backing in Congress, protesting the failure to pass the ‘Save America Act.’
