Last-minute cancellation of SpaceX's Starship rocket launch

SpaceX canceled the launch of its massive Starship rocket just seconds before liftoff on a test flight on Thursday, after several engines failed to operate.

The Associated Press reported that Elon Musk’s company would need to identify the cause of the failure before attempting another launch of Starship on a half-Earth orbital flight that would travel close to space. This was intended to be the thirteenth flight of the Starship rocket, which stands 407 feet (124 meters) tall and is powered by 33 main engines, making it the largest and most powerful rocket in the world.

The planned one-hour flight was also scheduled to carry twenty of SpaceX’s latest and most advanced Starlink satellites.

NASA is counting on Starship to land astronauts on the Moon in the coming years.
