Death toll from Venezuela earthquakes rises to 4,930

Venezuela’s National Assembly President, Jorge Rodriguez, said on Thursday that the death toll from the two successive earthquakes that shook the country last month had risen to 4,930.

Reuters quoted Rodriguez as saying that the number of injured from the earthquakes, which occurred on June 24, remained unchanged at 16,740, while 17,907 people remained homeless. The number of residents in shelters had risen to 21,210.
