Iran Warns Vance from Trump's Negotiators

During talks between the United States and Iran in the Swiss city of Lausanne, Tehran sent a private message to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance via an intermediary, warning that the continued involvement of Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in the negotiations could undermine the chances of converting the understanding framework reached on June 17 into a permanent agreement, according to a report by Dropsite News.

An Iranian official conveyed that Tehran accused Kushner and Witkoff of exploiting their access to the course of negotiations to achieve financial gains, rather than focusing on ensuring the success of the diplomatic track.

It added that the profits resulting from these practices amounted to approximately $9 billion, claiming that it had requested, through intermediaries, to receive half of these profits.

In response, the U.S. administration denied receiving any such message, affirming that all members of the negotiation team are working to serve the President and carry out his mission. The White House also rejected these allegations, describing them as “Iranian propaganda,” while no comment was issued by Kushner or Witkoff regarding these claims.

These accusations coincided with rising market speculation about potential manipulation in oil contracts and energy company stocks, after analysts identified a pattern of large bets preceding statements by President Trump that were issued at times influential on U.S. market movements, raising questions about whether some parties benefited from undisclosed information to secure substantial profits.

Despite Iran’s efforts to open a direct communication channel with Vance, the future of any agreement between Washington and Tehran remains uncertain, particularly after Trump announced that the United States had entered into combat operations against Iran and ended the ceasefire. While some intermediaries believe Vance is adopting a more pragmatic approach to the file, their assessments suggest that Trump’s direct intervention remains an obstacle to making tangible progress in the negotiations.
