CENTCOM announces resumption of naval blockade on Iranian ports

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday the resumption of a naval blockade on Iranian ports, coinciding with ongoing military strikes against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, CENTCOM said, “U.S. forces resumed, today at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the naval blockade on ships heading to or coming from Iranian ports and coastal areas.”

The statement added that CENTCOM is currently deploying more than 20 U.S. Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft in the Middle East region, emphasizing that U.S. forces remain vigilant, ready, and capable of delivering “decisive” strikes.

Earlier today, CENTCOM announced a new round of military strikes against Iran, aimed at continuing to undermine its capacity to disrupt commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
