New aggression and Kuwait calls for a serious stand
In a new episode of the treacherous aggression campaign by Iran and its proxies against countries in the region, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army announced yesterday that the armed forces repelled hostile aerial targets within its airspace. It clarified that “any sounds of explosions heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks, and everyone is urged to comply with safety and security instructions issued by the competent authorities.”
The General Staff reaffirmed that the armed forces continue to carry out their duties and responsibilities with efficiency and competence, within the framework of continuous readiness and constant preparedness, thereby enhancing national security and safeguarding the safety of citizens and residents. It renewed its warnings against approaching, touching, or photographing any debris from missiles or drones, and advised against publishing or circulating any images or videos of damaged sites.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Hamad Al-Mushaan, during his participation in Brussels yesterday in the third high-level forum on security and regional cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union, stressed that Iran’s heinous attacks on Kuwait and GCC countries necessitate a serious stance against such violations.
In a speech at the forum, which follows up on the outcomes of the second edition hosted by Kuwait in October 2025, Al-Mushaan praised the EU’s solidarity with the “Cooperation” countries and expressed his hope to elevate the partnership between the two sides, describing Europe as a strategic partner for the GCC in supporting regional security and stability.
In parallel, the United States and Iran are moving toward significant escalation, after mediation efforts failed to halt the collapse of the Islamabad memorandum and persuade both sides to cease fire talks and return to diplomatic negotiations.
A senior Iranian diplomatic source told “Al-Jarida” that all mediation attempts, particularly by Pakistan and Qatar, have so far failed, adding that Tehran expects a major escalation and is preparing for this scenario.
As U.S. strikes on Iran continue, which for the first time in this round included oil targets in Khuzestan Province (Ahvaz) near the border with Iraq, and in response to Iran’s aggressive actions against regional countries, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to destroy the “Jabal al-Fas” site, described as “Iran’s fortified nuclear fortress,” as the U.S. Navy began reimposing a comprehensive naval blockade on Iranian ports in the Gulf and preventing their exit from the Strait of Hormuz.
As Iran continues to expand its unlawful aggression regionally—recently targeting facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, and the Sultanate of Oman, as well as two Emirati oil tankers and other vessels in the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz near the Omani coast—Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akbari Nia claimed that “the Strait of Hormuz will never be opened through war or US aggression,” affirming that the armed forces would not negotiate over Iran’s rights in the strategic waterway.
