Ukraine: Sinking of Russian Border Guard ship off Novorossiysk

Reports stated that the attack carried out by a Sargan-3000 drone resulted in casualties aboard the Russian vessel Izumrud, which measures 62.5 meters in length. There was no immediate confirmation from the Russian side.
According to media reports, the Russian ship had previously participated in an operation in 2018 to prevent Ukrainian vessels from breaching the Kerch Strait.
It is recalled that Ukrainian ships were seeking to assert their right of passage through the Sea of Azov following Russia’s unilateral annexation of Crimea in 2014. The Russian Navy intercepted the Ukrainian boats and temporarily detained 24 crew members, six of whom were injured.
