Trump: I don't think we need a military presence in Iraq

US President Donald Trump, during his meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, affirmed that the United States does not believe there is a need for its military presence to continue in Iraq, emphasizing that relations between the two countries will move toward enhancing economic and investment cooperation.
Trump stated that Washington and Baghdad will soon announce a strong partnership in the oil sector, considering that this partnership will open new horizons for cooperation between the two countries in the energy field.
The US President added that he was interested in the victory of Iraqi Prime Minister Faleh al-Iyadi in leading the government, clarifying that his rival held positions he described as “bad” toward the United States.
Trump pointed out that the next phase will see an enhancement of bilateral relations, focusing on economic interests and cooperation in the energy sector, alongside a reduction in the US military role in Iraq.
