U.S. state of Maine: One killed in incident involving the Federal Immigration Agency

The Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives reported on social media that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was involved in a shooting incident that left one person dead in the city of Bedford, Maine, on Monday, although details of what occurred remain limited.

Republican Speaker Ryan Fecteau wrote on Facebook that the shooting took place Monday morning in the coastal city of approximately 23,000 residents, located about 24 kilometers southwest of Portland.

Fecteau, referring to the federal agency, wrote: “A shooting occurred this morning in Bedford. One person was killed, and ICE was involved in the incident.” He added, “State police and the Department of Public Safety are now on the scene gathering details, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is expected to participate in the investigation as well.”
