Qatar condemns the targeting of the Kuwaiti consulate in Basra

Qatar today condemned the ongoing attacks targeting the premises of the General Consulate of the sisterly State of Kuwait in the city of Basra in the sisterly Republic of Iraq, as well as the accompanying violations of the inviolability of consular missions.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that targeting consular premises constitutes a blatant violation of the rules of international law and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, emphasizing the necessity of respecting the inviolability of consular missions and ensuring their full protection, along with that of their staff.
The Ministry reiterated Qatar’s full solidarity with Kuwait and its emphasis on the importance of taking necessary measures to ensure the security and safety of consular missions and to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
