State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, confirmed during a meeting with club representatives, attended by Kuwait Football Association President Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef, that expenditures must be funded solely from investment returns, in accordance with the law and regulations. He urged clubs to settle their debts using these resources and to inform the Public Authority for Sports accordingly, emphasizing the necessity of implementing a health insurance system for all sports disciplines and utilizing available financial resources for this purpose. He also clarified that clubs would assume responsibility for maintaining their own pitches, given that the Ministry of Finance has not allocated a specific budget for this purpose.
Al-Jalahma discussed with club presidents and their general secretaries the preparations for the 2026-2027 football season and the readiness of stadiums following routine maintenance works, calling on the Kuwait Football Association to form a committee to visit clubs periodically to ensure pitch readiness. He expressed his hope that the season would witness strong competition reflecting the state’s interest in sports.
For his part, Al-Arabi Club General Secretary Fouad Al-Muzayidi praised the meeting, describing it as fruitful and noting the significant cooperation among all parties. He revealed a proposal to hold league matches at only four venues: Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium at Al-Salmiya Club, and Naif Al-Dbous Stadium at Al-Fahaheel Club. He confirmed that the Minister stated the Public Authority for Sports would continue to focus on pitch surfaces and stands, while also providing dedicated training grounds for clubs.
