Iraq calls for de-escalation and protection of maritime navigation security

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its concern over the ongoing tensions and developments affecting the security of maritime navigation in the region, warning of their repercussions on regional security and stability and on international trade flows.

In a statement, the ministry emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, respecting the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, and refraining from any steps that could exacerbate tensions or threaten the security and safety of maritime navigation.
