Iraq confirms it will not allow its territory to be used for attacks targeting Gulf states

Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Fouad Hussein affirmed, during his meeting in the capital city of Riyadh on Sunday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, that Iraq will not allow its territory or airspace to be used as a launching point for any operations or attacks targeting the Kingdom or Gulf states.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that a meeting was held in the Kingdom between the Saudi and Iraqi sides, chaired by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Dr. Fouad Hussein, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the attendance of several officials from both sides.

SPA added that the Saudi and Iraqi sides discussed “the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields, as well as reviewing recent developments in the region and issues of mutual interest.”

The Saudi and Iraqi sides also “emphasized the importance of supporting Iraq’s security and stability, enhancing the role of its national institutions, and continuing coordination and cooperation between the two countries in a manner that serves their common interests and contributes to safeguarding the security and stability of the region.”
