Sisi and bin Zayed discuss efforts to prevent further escalation in the region

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, discussed developments in the Middle East and efforts to prevent further escalation on Sunday.

The meeting took place during al-Sisi’s reception of the President of the United Arab Emirates at Alamein Airport on Sunday, according to Mohamed El-Shenawy, spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency.

In a press statement, the spokesperson said that al-Sisi welcomed the UAE President, who is visiting as a cherished guest in his second homeland, Egypt, as part of a fraternal visit, emphasizing the special status held by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and the UAE in Egypt and among its people, given the strength and depth of the historical and multifaceted relations between the two countries and their peoples.

For his part, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Egyptian President for the warm reception, reaffirming the fraternal and historical ties that unite the leaderships and peoples of the two countries.

The spokesperson noted that the two presidents discussed the full spectrum of bilateral relations, as well as developments in regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts to avoid further escalation.

He added that they stressed the necessity of continuing consultation, coordination, and joint action on various issues amid the existing challenges facing the region.
