Tenders Authority Approves Tender for Electrical Grid Development Consultancy

Through this tender, the Ministry aims to qualify and train national cadres in preparing operational and planning studies for the electrical grid, thereby contributing to the development of specialized national expertise, alongside fulfilling the technical studies required by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Authority, which enhances Kuwait’s participation in the Authority’s projects.

The tender includes providing specialized consulting services to support the electricity transmission networks and power stations sectors, by preparing technical studies for protection systems in transmission stations, as well as specialized studies for power generation stations. This contributes to improving the operational efficiency of the electrical system and ensuring its stability and security, particularly during peak periods in the summer season.

The tender also involves preparing specialized studies on electricity exchange operations between Kuwait and the GCC Interconnection Grid, which helps enhance the reliability of the electrical grid, improve its capacity to handle increasing loads, and leverage the potential of regional interconnection.

In the same context, the Central Tenders Board approved the recommendation of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to issue a tender for updating the existing data collection and analysis equipment at power generation stations and main substations. This is part of the Ministry’s efforts to develop the technical infrastructure of monitoring and control systems, and to improve the efficiency of monitoring grid performance and making operational decisions more accurately and rapidly.
