"Pottery Brings Us Together" Forum Kicks Off Today

Dalaal Malek, a member of the board of directors of the Kuwaiti Artists Union for the Art and Media Profession and head of the ceramics committee, announced the launch of the first ceramics forum, titled “Ceramics Unites Us,” today, under the patronage of Union President Dr. Nabil Al-Filikaawi. This initiative aims to strengthen the presence of ceramic art and support artists and potters in Kuwait.
Malek stated that the forum will host two of Kuwait’s leading pioneers in ceramic art, the potters Abbas Malek and Abdulaziz Al-Khazzaz, who will share their extensive expertise with participants through hands-on, practical workshops introducing diverse ceramic techniques and methods. These sessions are designed to develop artists’ skills and refine their talents. She added that the forum brings together a select group of artists and potters under the umbrella of the Union, with the goal of exchanging artistic and cultural experiences, enhancing communication among creators, and attracting more artists to participate in future forums and purposeful artistic activities.
She clarified that the Union has ensured the provision of a suitable venue and an environment conducive to creativity. All stages of ceramic production will be supervised, from shaping and drying to firing, to produce sculptures and murals that serve the concept of the “Memory That Will Not Fade” exhibition, which the Union is organizing in conjunction with the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion. Malek emphasized that this forum marks the first step in a series of specialized artistic forums to be organized by the Union in the future, aiming to gather artists from various disciplines and boost the artistic scene in Kuwait.
Concluding her remarks, she said: “The Kuwaiti Artists Union for the Art and Media Profession is committed to supporting all art forms, including ceramic art, due to its artistic, cultural, and heritage value. Hence, the slogan of the first forum, ‘Ceramics Unites Us,’ reflects the belief that art is the language that brings creators together and opens new horizons for collaboration and creativity.”
