Switzerland coach: We trained for penalty shootouts

Switzerland head coach Murat Yakin confirmed that he knows exactly who his opponent will be in the Round of 16 of the World Cup, ahead of Sunday’s early morning match against Argentina in Kansas City.

Speaking at a press conference, Yakin said, “It’s fine; we know exactly who we’re facing. Argentina is the champion, has the best player in the world, boasts extensive experience, and knows how to win these matches. But we didn’t come to the United States or to this tournament just to take part.”

According to a report by D Sports, he added, “In their last two matches, we saw that they are vulnerable to being breached. They can be pressured and unsettled when things don’t go their way. We are an organized and disciplined team, ready to fight for every ball. We are capable of stopping the world champions.”

He also spoke about Switzerland’s national team, saying, “We will play against Argentina with courage, organization, and belief. If we do that, anything is possible. Every great story in this tournament begins with someone saying it’s impossible. Today is our chance to write our own story.”
