Ministry of Higher Education: Acceptance of 2,704 students for overseas scholarships

Deputy Minister of Higher Education Dr. Badr Al-Busairi announced the results of the accepted candidates for the External Scholarships Plan for the academic year 2026/2027. A total of 2,704 male and female students were accepted, drawn from high school graduates of the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years, across various educational systems including government, private, and foreign schools.

In a press statement, Dr. Al-Busairi said that the 2026/2027 External Scholarships Plan translates the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research aimed at enhancing the quality of scholarships and improving their outcomes. This is achieved by reviewing offered majors and giving greater priority to future-oriented and vital fields, foremost among them artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and modern technologies, alongside medical and allied health specialties. These efforts contribute to preparing national cadres equipped with the skills and knowledge required for the upcoming phase.

Dr. Al-Busairi clarified that the Ministry ensured the management of all verification and sorting stages according to an integrated operational system, guaranteeing the integrity of procedures and swift execution while reinforcing principles of governance, transparency, and fairness throughout the process. He added that the selection among applicants was conducted in accordance with the approved controls and standards of the Scholarships Plan, which included the equivalent GPA for medical and engineering majors, the high school graduation rate for other specialties, the student’s ranking of preferences (up to a maximum of eight), and the number of seats allocated at approved universities in scholarship destination countries.

Dr. Al-Busairi noted that the Ministry will organize an informational meeting for accepted candidates as part of the third phase of the national campaign "Wajjehni" (Guide Me) on Monday and Tuesday, July 13–14, 2026. The event will feature representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and the Scholarships Sector within the Ministry. Its objective is to prepare students for the transition to the scholarship phase, inform them of post-acceptance procedures, and answer their inquiries. He confirmed that SMS messages will be sent to schedule attendance according to the approved timetable.

He urged accepted students to complete post-acceptance procedures within 60 days of the announcement of results, ensuring that all scholarship requirements are fulfilled within the specified deadlines. He also advised them to follow the Ministry’s official accounts to stay updated on instructions and developments related to the post-acceptance phase.

Dr. Al-Busairi extended his sincere congratulations and best wishes to the accepted students and their parents, praying to Almighty God to grant them success and guide their steps at the beginning of an academic phase that represents a pivotal milestone in building their scientific and professional futures. He emphasized that the scholarship journey is a national responsibility characterized by scientific excellence, innovation, and knowledge production. He called on students to make the most of the academic and research opportunities provided by global universities, expressing confidence that Kuwaiti youth will rise to the occasion and return to their homeland with expertise and academic achievements that contribute to supporting national development and enhancing the competitiveness of the State of Kuwait at both regional and international levels.
