The artwork "Biofabric" arrives at the London Museum after a secret journey from France

The artwork known as the “Bayeux Tapestry” is scheduled to be displayed at the London Museum from September 10 until July 2027, after being borrowed from France. The historic textile serves as a vivid pictorial narrative, depicting the Norman conquest of England in 1066.

The arrival of the historic tapestry, which measures 70 meters (230 feet) in length, at the London Museum was widely anticipated, although details of its journey from France to England were not disclosed due to security concerns.

Nicholas Cullinan, director of the London Museum, said while awaiting the arrival of the Bayeux Tapestry after a journey surrounded by stringent security measures: “I feel an extraordinary sense that this has finally happened after a great deal of work, planning, and care.”

He added: “For the first time in a thousand years, this important piece of British, and also French, history is being displayed on these shores... It is incredibly exciting.”
