Trump briefed Netanyahu on US moves in the Gulf

US President Donald Trump held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday evening to brief him on “recent US moves in the Gulf,” according to a statement from Netanyahu’s office.

The conversation took place “within the framework of regular communications” between the two leaders, who reiterated their commitment to “continuing coordination between their countries in various fields,” according to a statement issued by Netanyahu’s office and published on the X platform.

A US official confirmed to AFP that the call had taken place, without providing details on its content.

The statement added that “Netanyahu, for his part, stressed the seriousness of the statements made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his allies against the existence of the State of Israel, and the necessity of establishing security zones along the Israeli border.”

On Tuesday, Erdoğan rejected Israel’s claim that the sale of US F-35 fighter jets to Ankara would disrupt the balance of power in the Middle East, dismissing it as “misinformation.”

Netanyahu had urged the United States on Monday not to sell the advanced US fighter jet to Turkey.
