Trump: Iranians Beg for an Agreement

US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Axios on Saturday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had requested a meeting with him at the White House, suggesting that the meeting would take place in the coming days after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Turkey.

Regarding Iran, Trump said he was following the funeral ceremonies of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, adding that the United States is capable of “destroying everyone,” but noted that doing so would make it impossible to have a party to negotiate with.

He added that Washington and Tehran had agreed to take a week-long break from talks until the end of the funeral ceremonies, affirming that “neither side will fire at the other during this period.”

Trump also claimed that “the Iranians are begging for an agreement,” noting that he was surprised to see Iranians crying during Khamenei’s funeral, and said, “I thought people hated him.”
