Minister of Social Affairs: Strengthen Oversight of Cooperatives and Take Legal Action Against Violators

Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaili emphasized the need to strengthen oversight of cooperative societies and their branches, swiftly address violations, and take legal action against violators without leniency. This statement was made by Al-Huwaili during a press interview while inspecting the Control and Supervision Center for Cooperative Societies, accompanied by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Faisal Al-Kandari, to review the center’s operational mechanisms and monitor the activities of cooperative societies and their branches.

Minister Al-Huwaili stressed the importance of leveraging modern technologies to detect violations, enhance the efficiency of supervisory work, and verify that cooperative societies comply with approved decisions, circulars, and regulations. She directed the strengthening of coordination between the Control Center and the relevant supervisory departments, as well as intensifying field inspections to ensure prompt handling and resolution of observed issues.

She affirmed that protecting the rights of shareholders and consumers, and safeguarding cooperative funds, are among the ministry’s top priorities, underscoring the importance of enhancing transparency, discipline, and corporate governance in the cooperative sector.
