Kuwait’s Under-17 national team begins its campaign in Group 7 of the Asian Cup qualifiers with a match against Bahrain at 4:00 PM Kuwait time today, in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, with the game to be broadcast on Kuwait Sports Channel.

In the same group, Lebanon will face Brunei Darussalam at 7:00 PM, while host Oman rests from the opening round of matches.

The “Blue Team” aims to secure a strong start against Bahrain to boost its chances of qualifying for the Asian Cup, which will be held in Uzbekistan next May.

The 35 participating teams in the qualifiers have been divided into seven groups, competing in a single-leg round-robin format with centralized venues, running until November 20. Only the group winners will advance to the finals of the 22nd edition. These seven qualified teams will join nine others that automatically secured their spots by participating in the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar: Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

On his part, Brazil-born coach of the Under-17 national team, Cayo Zanardi, stated that the “Blue Team” is ready for the qualifiers following intensive preparation sessions held domestically and in Qatar before traveling to the Sultanate of Oman. Zanardi emphasized that Bahrain deserves respect and expressed hope that the team will deliver strong performances throughout the qualifiers, stressing the importance of securing a positive result in today’s opening match.
