The Office of International Media for the State of Qatar stated that circulating reports on social media, which claim that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani had declared that the United States and Iran had failed to reach an agreement, are “baseless and misleading.”
In a statement posted on its website, the office clarified that “the remarks of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar have been systematically distorted by parties that benefit from the continuation of war and instability in our region; fake accounts are disseminating a large number of these claims in an effort to thwart diplomatic efforts and push for further escalation, which is highly irresponsible.”
The statement added: “His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar has confirmed in his remarks that both sides continue to work toward reaching an agreement.”
The statement concluded by emphasizing that “Qatari mediation continues to coordinate closely with the United States and Iran to support the ongoing negotiations.”
