Dr. Ahmed Rustam, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, accompanied by Engineer Abdel Mottaleb Omara, concluded his field visit to Luxor Governorate with an inspection tour of the West Bank area. The tour included monitoring implementation rates for the construction of Al-Qurna Central Hospital, inspecting works on the Egyptian-Japanese School in the city, and following up on efforts to develop the Nile Corniche on the West Bank. He was accompanied during the tour by Engineer Abdel Mottaleb Omara, Governor of Luxor, and a number of executive leaders from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the governorate.

During the conclusion of his tour, Dr. Ahmed Rustam emphasized that the widespread distribution of educational and health facility projects in Luxor Governorate and across various governorates in the republic clearly reflects the state’s orientation toward placing the education and health sectors at the forefront of government priorities. He noted that these sectors serve as the fundamental pillar for improving the quality of services provided to citizens and for effective investment in human capital.

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development clarified that these two vital sectors receive precise and continuous monitoring, in light of direct directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and under the supervision of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, to ensure the completion of all ongoing projects, provide the highest levels of financial and logistical support, guarantee adherence to timelines, and, most importantly, achieve tangible impacts on citizens.

Dr. Rustam revealed that the economic and social development plan for the current fiscal year included a genuine translation of these directives, with the approval of a 25% increase in health sector allocations. These funds primarily target the completion of the second phase of the National Project for Universal Health Insurance, aiming to incorporate new governorates into the system, alongside completing development and efficiency-upgrading projects for existing hospitals.

Regarding the education sector, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development pointed out that allocations for pre-university education witnessed a noticeable increase of 11.5%, aimed at enhancing spending on the general and vocational education systems. This includes the ambitious expansion of establishing 100 new Egyptian-Japanese schools, as well as launching numerous vocational schools and applied technology schools in partnership with the private sector, to prepare skilled cadres and young generations capable of meeting labor market demands.

At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Ahmed Rustam extended his thanks and appreciation to Engineer Abdel Mottaleb Omara, Governor of Luxor, and all executive leaders in the governorate for their continuous efforts. He affirmed the ongoing coordination and close cooperation between the ministry’s and governorate’s teams to overcome any obstacles and provide all necessary appropriations and requirements to expedite the completion of ongoing projects and bring them into service as quickly as possible.
