The Ministry of Health hosted the first 360 Orthopedic Surgery and Trauma Conference, organized by the Kuwait Orthopedic Association, with the participation of a select group of physicians and specialists from Kuwait and abroad, alongside the fourth annual scientific research day for the Kuwait Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the conference’s patron, Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Munther Al-Hasawi emphasized the Ministry’s strong support and attention to specialized scientific conferences, describing them as interactive platforms that bring together medical expertise to exchange knowledge and develop clinical and practical skills. This, he noted, leads to the formulation of realistic and actionable scientific recommendations that contribute to enhancing the quality of medical services in the country.

Dr. Al-Hasawi stressed the Ministry’s continuous commitment to developing the healthcare system and keeping pace with the latest global medical advancements, particularly through expanding the adoption of robotic and specialized surgeries and establishing specialized trauma centers across various healthcare facilities in Kuwait. He stated that the concept of comprehensive and integrated care for accident victims begins at the moment of injury, proceeds through emergency, surgical, and intensive care units, and concludes with rehabilitation, recovery, and return to normal life.

He highlighted the importance of coordination and integration among various surgical specialties, such as general surgery, vascular surgery, and otolaryngology, to serve patient health and safety. He commended the outstanding outcomes and qualified national cadres of Kuwait Board of Orthopedic Surgery graduates, acknowledging their vital role in the healthcare system. He extended congratulations to the newly certified physicians and urged them to continue their dedication and service to the nation and patients.

For his part, Dr. Ali Mardashti, President of the Kuwait Orthopedic Association, affirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting continuing medical education and strengthening cooperation frameworks and knowledge exchange with various local and international medical associations and societies, thereby contributing to the development of medical practices and elevating patient care standards in Kuwait. He explained that the two-day conference serves as a specialized scientific platform bringing together elite medical professionals to exchange knowledge and expertise and stay informed about the latest clinical developments, aiming to enhance the competence of national cadres and improve the quality of services provided to trauma and fracture patients.

On his part, Conference Chairman Dr. Ali Bahman stated that holding the conference amid exceptional circumstances and rapid challenges underscores the importance of strengthening cooperation and integration among various medical specialties and unifying efforts to serve patients and Kuwait’s healthcare system. He clarified that the conference concept was launched to embody the principle of teamwork in treating injuries and fractures, building an integrated system based on knowledge exchange and a spirit of collaboration. He emphasized that serving the nation is a shared responsibility requiring sincerity, diligence, and placing the patient’s interest above all else.

He noted that a distinctive feature of the conference is its coincidence with the organization of the scientific research day for the Kuwait Orthopedic Surgery Program, aimed at supporting young physicians and encouraging them in research and innovation. He added that young medical cadres represent the fundamental pillar for the future of medicine in the country.
