US President Donald Trump affirmed that Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon, noting that any proposals under consideration by Tehran would not alter this stance, while also speaking of the possibility of taking additional steps against Iran or proceeding with “ratification of the agreement.”
In remarks to reporters from the Oval Office, Trump said, “Iran does nothing without the approval of the United States,” adding, “It doesn’t matter what the proposals Iran is considering include; it will not possess a nuclear weapon.”
The US president clarified that he would “do many things over the next two weeks,” emphasizing the need to decide whether to move forward with additional steps against Iran or to “ratify the agreement.”
Speaking about the consequences of war, Trump said Iran would need 25 years to rebuild what was destroyed by conflict.
On a domestic matter, the US president urged Republicans to abolish the filibuster rule in the Senate.
