The 32% rise in visitor numbers at Troy is media-linked to Nolan's film, without statistical proof.

The ancient city of Troy in Turkey is experiencing a notable tourism boom, with its historical sites and museum recording a significant surge in visitor numbers during the first nine months of 2026.
According to the Troy Museum Directorate, the museum and the city’s archaeological site, along with the ancient site of Assos in the Çanakkale province, welcomed approximately 861,000 visitors, representing a 32.2% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The Troy Museum alone recorded 223,762 visitors, a 32.9% rise, surpassing its total annual visitors from the previous year within just nine months, while the Assos site achieved growth exceeding 80%.
Turkish media have linked this interest to Christopher Nolan’s film “The Odyssey” and the “Troy and Rome” exhibition hosted at the Colosseum in the Italian capital from June 11 to November 8.
However, this correlation has not been statistically proven, particularly since visitor numbers include months preceding the film’s release in July.
