The General Directorate for the Suppression of Narcotics has arrested five suspects in four separate cases for possession of narcotics and psychoactive substances with intent to traffic and consume, as part of ongoing security campaigns targeting drug traffickers and combating their activities.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the security operations resulted in the seizure of various quantities of narcotics, including 60 grams of cocaine, 50 grams of methamphetamine (shabu), 45 sheets saturated with “chemical” substances, and 10 Captagon tablets, along with two sensitive scales used for weighing narcotics.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the suspects and seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them, noting that these arrests are part of its continuous efforts to combat narcotics and psychoactive substances and to eliminate their sources of distribution.
These arrests come in the context of Law-Decree No. 159 of 2025 concerning the suppression of narcotics and psychoactive substances, regulating their use and trafficking. The decree establishes a comprehensive legal framework that includes deterrent measures to confront trafficking and distribution crimes, alongside preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative policies.
