Yaqoub Al-Adwani Preparations for the national handball team began at the Union Hall in the Martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad Center, located in Ad-Daiya, on the evening of the day before yesterday, under the guidance of Icelandic coach Aron Kristansson and national coach Ali Murad, in preparation for the World Cup to be held in Germany on January 13 next year. The first gathering saw the attendance of all players, except those attached to their clubs in overseas camps. The technical staff also called up eight new players to the Blue squad to assess their abilities after monitoring them in the resumed league matches and the Federation Cup.

The technical staff focused on the physical aspect during the first part of the training sessions inside the Union’s weightlifting hall, followed by shooting and speed drills in the second part of the training.

It is worth noting that the national team is participating in the tournament for the tenth time and will compete in Group 4, which includes the favorite for the title, the French national team, as well as the Argentine and Brazilian teams, both of which have made significant technical leaps in recent years. The national team will open its group-stage matches against France on January 14 next year.

In this context, Ali Murad confirmed that the technical staff aims to raise the technical level and achieve full readiness through the preparation plan drawn up by the administrative and technical staff in coordination with the board of directors. He added that they have players who are up to the responsibility placed on their shoulders, praising their attendance and discipline.

He clarified that the medical staff is working on preparing injured players and devising appropriate treatment plans so they can join their teammates in daily training sessions during the international break and the external preparation phase. He emphasized that they are striving to prepare the national team for the World Cup and to raise the name and flag of Kuwait on the major international stage, making an appearance befitting the name and reputation of Kuwaiti handball.
