Spanish club Tenerife announced the death of its player Jesus de Miguel Almeida on Tuesday morning at the age of 30, following a violent collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Oyono during their match in the Spanish second division held the previous evening.
In an official statement, the club said the player died at 8:00 a.m., expressing its deep sorrow at his passing and offering condolences to his family, friends, and Tenerife fans. De Miguel, a forward for Tenerife, suffered a cardiac arrest during the match and was rushed to the hospital after the collision on the pitch.
The incident occurred in the final minutes of the match, played at the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium, when De Miguel was competing for the ball in midfield and collided chest-to-chest with Andorra’s goalkeeper, Jesus Oyono.
The 30-year-old player was taken to the hospital, and the match was halted while the score stood at 2-2 in the 108th minute.
