Kuwait condemns attack on Qatari LNG carrier 'Al Mayda': Serious threat to maritime navigation safety and global energy supplies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and rejection of the attack targeting the liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker “Al-Maydah,” owned by QatarEnergy LNG, as it transited the waters of the Arabian Gulf. It emphasized Kuwait’s firm rejection of such acts, which pose a serious threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.

The Ministry stressed the necessity of respecting the rules of international law and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation and the safety of ships and their crews. It warned of the potential environmental and economic risks stemming from attacks on energy tankers, and the serious repercussions such incidents could have on the security and stability of the region. It also underscored the importance of uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident, identifying those responsible, and holding them accountable.

The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with sister state Qatar, its support for Qatar, and its backing of all measures taken to safeguard its security and interests, as well as to protect its facilities and assets.
