AbdulKarim Abdullah: Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi stated that tackling urinary tract diseases requires integrated roles among health facilities and civil society organizations, foremost among them the Kuwait Society of Urological Surgery. He emphasized that responsibility extends beyond merely providing treatment to include enhancing health awareness, prevention, and encouraging appropriate periodic screenings based on age and risk factors.
This came during a speech delivered by Minister Al-Awadi at the opening of the 19th Annual Conference of the Kuwait Society of Urological Surgery, which spans two days and features participation by a select group of physicians, experts, and researchers from within and outside Kuwait. Minister Al-Awadi added that exchanging knowledge and expertise is a fundamental pillar for developing medical practice and discussing the latest advancements in diagnosing and treating urinary and reproductive system diseases.
Minister Al-Awadi expressed his pride in the medical and health personnel working in Ministry of Health hospitals, who provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical urological services through clinics and surgeries, staffed by qualified national cadres. He also praised the achievements of national experts in robotic surgery, noting that the number of robotic procedures at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Kidney and Urology Center has surpassed 2,000 to date. The center successfully began performing remote robotic surgeries in December 2024, through 12 international procedures and 3 local procedures conducted via local connectivity within Kuwait.
