The Syrian Ministry of Energy announced that water releases from the Euphrates dams will continue at a rate of 900 cubic meters per second, with no changes to the approved release volumes since mid-October, until November 10. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the ministry stated that an assessment of the water situation will be conducted later, based on water inflows from the Turkish side, noting that the available storage capacity in the Euphrates dams currently stands at approximately two billion cubic meters.

The ministry added that personnel from the General Establishment of the Euphrates Dam continue to monitor water inflows and fluctuations in the Euphrates reservoir levels around the clock, in full coordination with the water resources directorates and emergency chambers in the provinces of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.

Earlier, on October 14, the Ministry of Energy announced that the General Establishment of the Euphrates Dam would reduce water releases from the Euphrates River dams from 1,200 cubic meters per second to 900 cubic meters per second, starting on October 15.

In a related development, a child died and three others were injured after falling into a pond formed in an old quarry in the village of Tel al-Dahab, part of the Tel Brak subdistrict in northeastern rural Hasaka, due to heavy rainfall and flash floods. According to the Hasaka Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management, residents managed to rescue the four children and transport them to the hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries while the others are receiving treatment.

Civil defense teams responded to the incident, cordoning off the pond with warning tape and securing the surrounding area to prevent access and reduce the risk of further drowning incidents.

The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management had previously announced the deaths of five people, including four children, and the disappearance of five others in the rural areas of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Aleppo, due to flash floods and heavy rains that affected several governorates, noting that search operations for the missing are ongoing.
