Kuwait Commercial Bank concluded the activities of its “Ya Zein Tarathna” (Our Heritage is Beautiful) 2026 campaign in its fifteenth edition at the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), recalling the campaign’s key milestones aimed at highlighting authentic Kuwaiti heritage and strengthening the connection of new generations with the customs and traditions that form part of the national identity.
Speaking on this occasion, Amal Al-Wara’, Deputy General Manager for Corporate Communications at the bank, said that this year’s campaign was held under the slogan “From the Kut to Kuwait,” which embodies a journey through time to showcase the features of life in the past, with the aroma of authentic Kuwaiti heritage in its unique components and elements, including customs, traditions, professions, markets, and folk games that formed an essential part of the lives of fathers and grandfathers.
She added: “We are proud of the ‘Ya Zein Tarathna’ campaign, which reflects the bank’s commitment to highlighting Kuwaiti heritage and enhancing its presence among new generations. Through this campaign, ‘Al-Tijari’ seeks to present heritage in an interactive manner that links the past with the present, highlighting how the journey of development contributed to building modern Kuwait without losing its connection to its authentic legacy.”
The final stop of the campaign crowned a series of diverse activities and events organized by the bank, including field visits to several schools, universities, and diwaniyas (traditional social gathering places). These visits provided students with the opportunity to learn about aspects of Kuwaiti folk heritage through an interactive approach that combines knowledge and entertainment.
The bank also recalled the checkers tournament held as part of the campaign activities, celebrating a folk game that represents an authentic aspect of Kuwaiti heritage. The game helps evoke the atmosphere of social life in the past and introduces new generations to traditional inherited games.
The event at GUST featured the “Al-Tijari Diwaniya,” which recreated the atmosphere of Kuwaiti diwaniyas and allowed students to participate in several folk games, including checkers and Al-Kireem, in an experience aimed at bringing folk heritage closer to youth and highlighting its cultural and social value.
Amal Al-Wara’ added that preserving national heritage is a responsibility that requires concerted efforts to transmit authentic customs and traditions to future generations and to reinforce pride in Kuwaiti identity, ensuring that this legacy remains present in the collective consciousness of society.
She concluded her remarks by extending thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the campaign, which received widespread approval and response from the public during field visits and activities, as well as through electronic interaction and engagement from followers of the bank’s accounts on social media platforms. This, she noted, motivates the bank to continue its efforts to nurture and revive Kuwaiti heritage.
