National Bank of Kuwait Organizes Event on Breast Cancer

The National Bank of Kuwait organized a comprehensive awareness discussion session for its employees, coinciding with the events of the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as part of its responsibility and constant commitment to enhancing the health and safety of its workforce. The session, which saw wide participation from various departments, was delivered by a breast cancer survivor and aimed to raise health awareness regarding the importance of early detection, break down the fear associated with the disease, and promote a culture of prevention and healthy lifestyles among the bank’s staff.

A simplified and scientific explanation was provided by Dr. Shatha Al-Najdi, a diagnostic radiology consultant, covering the nature of the disease, key risk factors, and early warning signs that necessitate immediate medical examination. The session also introduced the latest methods for self-examination and regular diagnostic screening, answered attendees’ questions, and offered vital signs and body mass index (BMI) screenings, along with individual nutritional consultations.

The event also featured the announcement of three winners of the “Every Step Counts” challenge, organized by the National Bank of Kuwait to encourage physical activity and raise awareness about ways to combat breast cancer.

On this occasion, Afrah Al-Arbash, General Manager of Human Resources Management at the National Bank of Kuwait, stated, “We believe that human capital is our true asset. From this perspective, we spare no effort in creating a supportive and motivating work environment for health. This discussion session reflects our commitment to our responsibilities and our dedication to promoting health awareness across the bank’s departments.”

She emphasized that organizing this awareness session aligns with the bank management’s priority of ensuring employee safety, noting that attention to health and awareness directly impacts the professional and personal quality of life of female employees, and underscores the National Bank of Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to caring for its human resources as the cornerstone of its success and sustainability.

Al-Arbash encouraged female employees to make regular screenings a sustainable preventive behavior that contributes to protecting both their families and their work environment. She added that breast cancer awareness during October is not merely an annual activity, but a noble health and humanitarian message through which the bank aims to empower participants with correct medical knowledge and guidelines.
