The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Al-Jahra Criminal Investigations Department in cooperation with the General Security Sector, arrested a suspect of Asian nationality in the murder of a guard at a plot under construction in the Al-Muta’a area in less than 24 hours from the receipt of the report.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said that security agencies received a report yesterday morning stating that the body of a guard was found on the roof of the plot. Competent authorities immediately proceeded to the site to examine the scene and collect evidence.
The ministry clarified that investigations led to suspicion falling on a former guard of the plot, who had been dismissed the day before the incident was discovered. It emerged that he had surrendered himself to the East Police Station in connection with an arrest warrant related to the expiration of his visa, seeking his deportation from the country before his link to the case was uncovered.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime following a dispute with the victim, who had replaced him at work. He admitted to assaulting the victim using a piece of wood and a knife. The ministry noted that the necessary procedures are underway to refer the suspect to the competent authorities.
