Minister of Health: Egyptian Drug Authority wins 7 seats on technical committees of the African Medicines Agency

Cairo – Nadeh Imam: Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar congratulated the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), under the chairmanship of Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, and all its distinguished personnel, on the occasion of the Authority securing seven seats on the technical committees of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) during the agency’s inaugural week held in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.

This achievement crowns the distinguished professional journey undertaken by the Egyptian Drug Authority and reflects growing continental confidence in Egypt’s regulatory and supervisory expertise, as well as its capacity to transition from national influence to active contribution at the continental level.

Dr. Abdel Ghaffar expressed his full confidence in the EDA’s continued leading role in transferring expertise, exchanging best practices, and building technical and institutional capacities, thereby contributing to strengthening integration among national regulatory systems and building a more efficient and sustainable African pharmaceutical system.

For his part, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Hussam Abdel Ghaffar, clarified that the diverse representation of Egyptian experts on the committees for medical devices and emerging technologies, evaluation of pharmaceutical and biological products, inspection, market surveillance, quality control testing, pharmacovigilance, and clinical trials underscores the depth of Egypt’s experience and the breadth of its technical expertise, representing a qualitative addition that supports the development of regulatory and supervisory practices across Africa.
