Qatar Veterans Meet Saudi Arabia Today and Iraq Tomorrow

Our national veterans’ team plays its first match today against the Saudi Arabia national team in Group A of the second edition of the Gulf Cup for Veterans, “Qatar 2026,” at 5:30 p.m. at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. The veterans’ squad will also face Iraq on the same pitch and at the same time tomorrow, before concluding their campaign with a match against Oman next Monday.

The tournament features an elite gathering of former stars and legends of Gulf football, who return to the pitch to relive memories of past Gulf competitions, in a sporting atmosphere that reflects the history of football in the region and the spirit of competition and brotherhood uniting its players.

The tournament’s matches, totaling 15, will be hosted across three stadiums: Grand Hamad Stadium, Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, and Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

Under the tournament’s regulations, matches consist of two halves of 20 minutes each, with unlimited substitutions allowed. In knockout stages, any match ending in a draw after regular time will proceed directly to a penalty shootout.

The two semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, with the final taking place the following Thursday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

The Gulf Football Association aims, through organizing the second edition, to build on the tournament’s success and strengthen its status as a sporting gathering that brings together former Gulf football stars, fosters bonds of brotherhood and connection among them, and evokes the rich footballing legacy of achievements and memories created by generations of players in the history of Gulf tournaments.

The tournament carries a distinctive character that blends sporting competition with nostalgia, marking an occasion that recalls the presence of several prominent figures who contributed to the development of Gulf football over the years.
