The State of Qatar has categorically denied allegations regarding its interference in Israel’s elections or its financing of any activities aimed at influencing their outcomes. Dr. Majid Al-Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and official spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated via his account on the X platform: “The State of Qatar categorically denies allegations concerning its interference in the Israeli elections or its financing of any activities aimed at influencing their results.”
Al-Ansari added that Qatar “rejects the accusations propagated by some Israeli politicians and media outlets linked to them, as part of a new disinformation campaign aimed at dragging Qatar’s name into Israel’s internal political disputes in the wake of the elections held this week.” He pointed out the “contradictions in these accusations, which range from claims of purchasing Benjamin Netanyahu’s loyalty and financing the Israeli left, to influencing Arab voters’ ballots, as if, according to these allegations, we control the entire Israeli political landscape.”
He considered these “baseless accusations to be both absurd and dangerous,” stressing that “insisting on dragging our name into the electoral discourse in this manner reflects an excessive obsession with Qatar among certain Israeli political and media circles that defies logic.” He further emphasized that “Qatar is not a scapegoat for the political failures of some Israeli politicians,” adding that “it would be more appropriate for them, rather than attempting to divert attention toward us, to respond to the aspirations of their voters and address the consequences of their disastrous policies on the region.”
Al-Ansari stated: “We are not concerned with the political and electoral competition in Israel, as it is an internal matter in which we do not interfere, and we will not allow ourselves to be dragged into its disputes.”
He affirmed that “any government resulting from the elections is obligated to comply with international law and resolutions of the UN Security Council, and to deal seriously and honestly with the Palestinian issue, respecting the inalienable rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, foremost among which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
He further stressed that these campaigns “will not deter Qatar from continuing its role in mediation, its diplomatic and humanitarian efforts, its support for the brotherly Palestinian people, and its commitment to working toward a just and comprehensive peace that enhances security and stability in the region,” reaffirming the continuation of close cooperation with regional and international partners to resolve conflicts through diplomatic means.
Al-Ansari concluded: “Silence will not be our strategy in response to the use of our name to serve electoral agendas or narrow political gains.”
