Darine Al-Ali: The total number of contracts currently under the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy at the Central Tenders Board stands at 32 contracts to be put out for tender. Their bids will be opened in the coming period at various times and referred to the Ministry, as the competent authority, for review within 30 days of referral, to enable the Board to make an award decision for the bid that complies with the requirements.

Overall, these contracts aim to develop, upgrade, and enhance the efficiency of the electricity and water networks, ensuring they are fully prepared to meet the growing demand for energy and water driven by population growth and the expansion of new residential cities. Additionally, they seek to improve the services provided by the Ministry to its customers, including citizens and residents.

Leading among the offered contracts is one for the construction, completion, and maintenance of a 1,600 mm diameter fresh water pipeline from the Abdullah Port Distribution Complex to the West Al-Fanitees Complex, and a 1,200 mm diameter slightly saline water pipeline from Abdullah Port Complex to Al-Zour Complex, along with associated works. This project aims to supply fresh and slightly saline water to meet the needs of residents in surrounding areas.

Among these are also tenders for the supply, installation, and commissioning of three main transformer stations for the cloud data centers project in various locations, along with their feeders and accessories, to support the government’s direction toward full digital transformation across all services.

Furthermore, the project includes the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of smart water meters, which will bring about a qualitative leap in the Ministry’s revenue collection for water consumption. These meters will be electronically connected to the Ministry, replacing the old mechanical meters, and will enable the Ministry to reduce water waste by detecting leakages that lead to increased consumption rates.
