Bin Rida, speaking during the ceremony for the handover of the 100 books by the Thai Embassy to the Kuwait National Library, attended by several officials and cultural enthusiasts, noted that the initiative aims to introduce Thai culture and enrich the knowledge resources available to readers in Kuwait. He emphasized that the Council appreciates this initiative, which reflects the depth of cultural cooperation between the two friendly countries and embodies the relationship built on cooperation and mutual respect.

He clarified that the donated books, which cover topics highlighting Thai culture and heritage, will contribute to enriching the collections of the Kuwait National Library and enhancing the cultural content of the Diplomatic Hall, thereby supporting its mission to build bridges of civilizational communication among peoples, provide a window of knowledge into global cultures, and reinforce values of dialogue, rapprochement, and mutual understanding.

He added that the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters looks forward to expanding the horizons of cultural and intellectual cooperation between Kuwait and Thailand, building on joint initiatives that serve bilateral relations and enhance cultural exchange between the two peoples.

For her part, the Acting Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Kuwait, Orawan Kurtu, affirmed that cultural exchange is a fundamental pillar for strengthening Kuwaiti-Thai relations and consolidating communication and understanding between the two peoples. She noted that books open horizons for learning about the cultures, histories, traditions, and lifestyles of peoples.

Kurtu stated that this initiative embodies her country’s commitment to enhancing cultural exchange with Kuwait, expressing her hope that the books will serve as a bridge of communication between the two peoples and contribute to consolidating the existing relations of friendship and understanding between the two countries.

She explained that the donated collection includes diverse works addressing Thai culture, arts, literature, and history, offering readers an image of Thailand’s civilizational heritage and society, as well as stories and experiences that have contributed to shaping its cultural identity.

Kurtu pointed out that the donated books were supported by the Thailand Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing friendship and communication relations between Thailand and countries around the world. She noted that the collection will be placed in the “Diplomatic Hall,” which the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters is establishing within the Kuwait National Library.

She expressed her hope that the hall will become a space for introducing Thai culture and heritage to the Kuwaiti public, and that the books will stimulate the curiosity of students and readers, encouraging them to discover new aspects of Thailand’s history and civilization.

She stressed that friendship between countries is not limited to official relations between governments but is strengthened through direct understanding and communication between peoples, emphasizing that learning about the history, cultures, and traditions of others is a fundamental step toward building more solid and sustainable relations.

Kurtu affirmed that the initiative holds special significance this year, which marks the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Thailand in 1963. She noted that over the past decades, the two countries have succeeded in building enduring relations of friendship based on trust, mutual respect, and understanding.
