Kuwait recorded an impressive presence and exceptional achievements in the tenth season of the Arabic Reading Challenge held in Dubai, securing four top positions across the Arab world in its first participation, which included all competition categories in a single season.
Abdullah Al-Barak, the General Coordinator of the Arabic Reading Challenge in Kuwait, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait ranked second in the Outstanding Supervisor category, represented by teacher Badour Al-Asqa, among more than 162,000 supervisors, and third in the Outstanding School category for Al-Yarmouk Girls’ Secondary School. It also secured fourth place in the Special Needs category for student Abdullah Al-Mutairi, while student Nour Al-Kandari ranked among the top ten in the Outstanding Student category.
Al-Barak added that this achievement is well-deserved and comes under the encouragement of Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, who was keen on elevating Kuwait’s name and ensuring a distinguished participation, reflecting the country’s status and prominent presence at this major Arab forum.
He noted that the Minister of Education personally contacted the Outstanding Supervisor to congratulate her on this achievement, commended the Outstanding School, and urged it to continue its efforts in serving Kuwaiti students. He also congratulated Nour Al-Kandari and Abdullah Al-Mutairi on their distinguished presence at the largest Arab reading forum.
Al-Barak clarified that this is the first achievement of its kind for Kuwait, as it competed for the first time in a single season across all categories and secured top positions, reflecting the development of the reading movement in the country and the Ministry of Education’s commitment to nurturing talented and outstanding students in this field.
The Arabic Reading Challenge is the largest Arab initiative supervised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, aiming to stimulate reading activity in the Arab world and instill a love for reading in students.
The tenth season was launched in the 2025/2026 academic year and includes categories for the Outstanding Student, Outstanding Supervisor, Outstanding School, Special Needs participants, and the “Challenge Hero.”
The tenth season is distinguished by special celebrations, particularly as it coincides with the tenth anniversary of the challenge’s launch, which has seen participation from dozens of Arab countries and millions of students, providing Kuwait with the opportunity to compete in all tracks and achieve top positions.
