The official spokesperson for the “Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen,” Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, stated yesterday morning that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi terrorist militia toward Taif. Meanwhile, China expressed its opposition to attacks on civilian facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including airports, and voiced its deep concern over the continued tense situation in the Middle East.
This came in a statement by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, commenting on the Houthi militia’s attacks on several areas in the Kingdom. Guo called for prioritizing dialogue and negotiation to pave the way for restoring peace and calm in the region.
In parallel, the Houthi militia bombarded Aden Airport for the sixth time in a matter of days, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Transport, which condemned the attack and stressed that the continued targeting of Aden Airport represents a highly dangerous escalation.
In a statement yesterday, the ministry said, “The militias attacked the airport twice with several ballistic missiles, the first at 1:00 p.m. and the second at 3:00 p.m., as part of their escalation that threatens the safety of air navigation and civilian lives,” expressing its strong condemnation and rejection of these terrorist attacks, which have now reached six incidents in a few days.
The ministry emphasized that the repeated targeting of the airport, a vital civilian infrastructure, poses a direct threat to the lives of passengers, flight crews, and workers, and exposes civil aviation to serious risks. It pointed out the repercussions of these serious attacks on citizens’ mobility and humanitarian and relief efforts, noting that the continuation of these attacks raises serious concerns about the safety of air operations and places civilian lives in unacceptably dangerous conditions.
On another front, the Yemeni government confirmed that lifting the blockade imposed by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia on Taiz Governorate, protecting its residents, and securing its roads and supplies are among its top national responsibilities.
