Abdullah Qunaiss – Ahmed Khamis: The Ministry of Interior has stressed on its military and civilian personnel that they must not begin their sports specialization leave until a decision is issued by the Ministry granting it, confirming that violators will be referred to the competent authority to prepare for disciplinary or administrative accountability, as appropriate.

This came in a circular issued by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib, to regulate the mechanism by which ministry personnel enjoy sports specialization leave.

The circular clarified that some personnel begin their sports specialization leave based on a notice issued by the General Sports Authority granting them specialization to participate in continental, regional, or international games and competitions, without waiting for a decision from the competent authority within the Ministry granting the leave. The Ministry emphasized, in order to organize the workflow, that no personnel are entitled to sports specialization leave before the issuance of the relevant decision, and that any violator will be referred to the competent authority to prepare for accountability according to established procedures.

On another note, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs, Major General Hamad Al-Munifi, issued a reinforcement order to bolster the Operations Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, the General Directorate of Emergency and Public Security Police, by 50 officers and non-commissioned officers, as part of supporting security deployment and ensuring traffic fluidity, especially during peak hours.

A security source stated that the measure comes amid heavy traffic congestion on some roads, coinciding with maintenance works on several main roads, necessitating the reinforcement of field forces and the organization of traffic flow.

The reinforcement order included informing the reinforcement force of the required duty details, with the receiving entity instructed to notify the General Directorate of Police Force Affairs of the commencement of the detached force’s work, coordinating with the Central Operations Directorate in case any element fails to join, and providing a replacement.

The reinforcement force included 20 officers, comprising 8 captains and 12 first lieutenants, in addition to 30 non-commissioned officers, including 7 with the rank of assistant officer and 9 sergeants, while the rest of the force was distributed among the ranks of corporal and police officer. The reinforcement also included officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, correctional institutions, and the Coast Guard, in addition to assigning officers from the General Directorate of Traffic to the Emergency Police.
