Cairo – Khadija Hamouda: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stressed the need to build a more diversified and sustainable energy mix aimed at enhancing energy security, reducing emissions, achieving optimal use of natural resources, and decreasing reliance on fossil fuels. This came during a meeting held yesterday between President el-Sisi, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Eng. Mahmoud Esam, and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kojok. The official spokesperson for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that President el-Sisi reviewed the implementation status of the 200-megawatt wind power plant project in the Gulf of Suez area, which contributes to achieving the target of raising the share of renewable energy in the energy mix to 45% by 2028, instead of 42% by 2030.
