Al-Ahli Hosts Uzbekistan's Nasaf Today

Kuwait officials are aiming for a positive result when they travel to face Uzbek side Nasaf Qarshi this evening in the third round of Group A of the AFC Champions League Two football tournament. Also in the same group, the UAE’s Al-Ittihad Kalba will face Bahrain’s Al-Khaleej today.

Kuwait currently sit second in Group A with three points, while Al-Ittihad Kalba lead the table with six points. Nasaf and Al-Khaleej each have one point.

The Kuwaiti side enter today’s clash following a 3-1 victory over Al-Khaleej in the previous round, after suffering a 2-3 defeat to Al-Ittihad Kalba in the opening match.

Kuwait’s Syrian coach, Firas Al-Khatib, recognizes the importance of securing a positive result at this stage of the competition against one of the contenders for qualification to the second round, and will deploy his full strength in pursuit of a win or, at the very least, a draw.

On the other side, Nasaf are experiencing fluctuations in form both domestically and internationally. They currently sit fifth in the Uzbek League with 41 points, trailing leaders Neftchi Fergana by 15 points.
